Dubai Design Week
Returns 8-13 November 2022

Dubai Design Week is returning to Dubai Design District (d3) for its eighth season under the theme Design With Impact; a focus on how design innovation can have a positive effect on the future.

This year’s programme will include over 20 large scale installations developed by world-renowned architecture firms, acclaimed design studios, luxury brands and rising regional talent. Visitors can look forward to installations that transcend technology and sustainability with features such as a two-storey interactive QR code structure and a bamboo and mangrove-made pavilion that acts as an oversized wind chime.

These will be accompanied by a wide range of talks and workshops, exhibitions focusing on the future of design - including an interactive exhibition that pushes the boundaries of design through Web 3 technology - and the Design Market that will offer a retail experience full of homegrown offerings from homewares to ready-to-wear.

Also returning to the Waterfront Terrace in d3, Downtown Design, the Middle East's leading fair for contemporary and high-quality design, will host its most extensive edition to date with a line-up of leading international speakers, designers and global brands taking part for the first time.

The free-to-attend programme will be revealed on 15 October.

The Line — NEOM

THE LINE, which 200 meters wide, 170 kilometers long and 500 meters above sea level. eventually accommodate 9 million residents and will be built on a footprint of 34 square kilometers, which is unheard of when compared to other cities of similar capacity. This in turn will reduce the infrastructure footprint and create never-before-seen efficiencies in city functions. Its ideal climate all year round will ensure that residents can enjoy surrounding nature when traveling on foot. Residents will also have access to all facilities in THE LINE within a five-minute walk, in addition to a high-speed rail with an end-to-end transit of 20 minutes.

THE LINE offers a new approach to urban design: The idea of layering city functions vertically while giving people the possibility of moving seamlessly in three dimensions (up, down or across) to access them is a concept referred to as Zero Gravity Urbanism. Different from just tall buildings, this concept layers public parks and pedestrian areas, schools, homes and places for work, so that one can move effortlessly to reach all daily needs within five minutes.

THE LINE will have an outer mirror facade that will provide its unique character and allow even its small footprint to blend with nature, while the interior will be built to create extraordinary experiences and magical moments. It will be created by a team of world-renowned architects and engineers, led by NEOM, to develop this revolutionary concept for the city of the future.
